This lace pattern uses multiples of 8 + 3.

Sample Starting Chain:
ch 35 (32 + 3)

(You can make wider by adding +8 chains each time.)

PATTERN BEGIN

Row 1 — Mesh Setup

  1. dc in 4th ch from hook

  2. ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch

  3. Repeat sequence across.

  4. Turn.

You now have a soft mesh base.

Row 2 — Shell Formation

  1. ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in same stitch (2 dc in first stitch)

  2. sk 2 stitches

  3. In next sp → dc 4 (shell cluster)

  4. sk 2

  5. In next st → 2 dc

Repeat across:

2 dc — sk 2 — dc4 — sk 2 — 2 dc — sk 2 — dc4 — etc.

Turn.

You now see soft rising shell waves.

Row 3 — Chain Arches

  1. ch 5 (acts as dc + ch 2)

  2. dc into the center stitch of shell (the 2nd or 3rd dc of the cluster)

  3. ch 5, dc in center of next shell

  4. Continue across.

  5. End: ch 2, dc in last stitch.

  6. Turn.

This creates arched loops for next row’s lace.

Row 4 — Floral Lace Shell Fans

  1. ch 1, sc in first dc

  2. In each ch-5 space:

    • (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) → creates flower petal fan

  3. sc into next dc

  4. Repeat fans across

  5. Turn.

Now the lace “flowers” appear clearly.

Pattern Repeat

Repeat Rows 2 → 4 for the entire length of your project.

Row 2: Shell wave Row 3: Lace arches Row 4: Floral fans (Repeat… repeat… repeat…)

The pattern grows beautifully and evenly.

🌸 Finishing (Optional but recommended)

When the lace reaches desired size:

  • Work 1 row of sc along edges to straighten shape.

  • If using for a blouse → block lightly before seaming.

  • If using as scarf/shawl → steam block to open lace fully.
