Pattern Structure

This lace is a 4-row repeat:

  • Row 1: Sets up grid

  • Row 2: Floral shell blocks

  • Row 3: Raised arches

  • Row 4: Decorative lace ties the block together

You simply repeat Rows 1–4 to create the desired length.

Foundation

This pattern uses: Multiple of 6 + 3

Example for a sample:
ch 39 (6×6 = 36 + 3 = 39)

STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL

Row 1 — Base Row

  • dc in 4th ch from hook

  • ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch

  • Repeat across.

  • Turn.

This creates an open mesh grid.

Row 2 — Shell (Tile Flower) Row

  • ch 3 (counts as dc)

  • dc in same stitch (so 2 dc in the first dc)

  • In next dc: (dc 3, ch 3, dc 3)this forms the floral tile shell

  • In next dc: 2 dc

  • Repeat: 2 dc — shell — 2 dc — shell across

  • End with 2 dc in last stitch.

  • Turn.

Now you will see decorative clusters forming.

Row 3 — Lace Arch Setup

  • ch 5 (counts as dc + ch 2)

  • dc in next dc

  • ch 5, dc between shell groups
(Insert your hook where shells meet — the “valley”)

  • Repeat chain arches across

  • End: ch 2, dc into last stitch

  • Turn.

This creates the “lace window frame.”

Row 4 — Lace Detail

  • ch 1

  • sc into first dc

  • Into each ch-5 space: work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc)

  • sc in next dc

  • Repeat across

  • Turn.

This completes the tile block.

Repeat Pattern

Repeat Rows 1 → 4 until desired height / length is reached.

Shawl Usage

  • Make 1 long panel.

  • Add a gentle blocking steam finish.

Blouse Usage

  • Make 2 rectangles (front + back).

  • Join at shoulders and sides.

  • Optional: Create sleeves using same repeat.

Edge Finishing (Optional but recommended)

To make edges neat:

Border Row:
sc around entire piece → do one sc per dc and 2 sc in corners.

You may also finish with:

  • Picots for soft lace

  • Crab Stitch (reverse sc) for a structured clean border
