Crochet Daisy Flower Granny Square

 🧶 Materials & Setup

Yarn: Worsted weight (e.g., cotton or acrylic), 3 colors:

Color A for the daisy center

         Color B for daisy petals

Color C for the outer granny square rounds

         Hook: 4 mm (G)

         Others: Scissors, yarn needle

🌸 Round 1 – Daisy Center (Color A)

1. Magic ring: Create and hold loose.

2. Chain 3 (counts as 1 dc).

3. Work 11 double crochet into the ring (total 12 dc stitches).

4. Join with a slip stitch to the top of starting chain‑3.

5. Pull the ring tight to close the center.

🥀 Round 2 – Petals (Color B)

1. Join Color B in any stitch.

2. (Chain 3, dc in same stitch), chain 1 — this forms a small petal base.

3. Skip 1 stitch, then slip stitch into the next stitch to secure.

4. Repeat steps until you have 12 petals evenly around.

5. Slip‑stitch to the base of the first petal to close the round.

6. Fasten off Color B, weave in ends.

🌸 Round 3 – First Granny Square Layer (Color C)

1. Join Color C in any chain-1 space between petals.

2. Chain 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same space.

3. Chain 2, then make (3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc) all in that same space—this forms the first corner.

4. Chain 1, skip next petal? Actually, slip‑stitch in the space between petals, chain 1.

5. In the next chain‑1 petal space, repeat: 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc (corner).

6. Repeat pattern around, forming four corners total, with chain 1 + slip‑stitch between them.

7. Join with slip‑stitch to top of starting chain‑3.

8. Fasten off if switching color or continue color C.

⬛ Round 4 – Second Square Layer (Optional, Color C)

1. Join or continue in any corner space.

2. Chain 3 (counts as dc), then 2 dc, chain 2, 3 dc in corner corner (standard granny square).

3. Chain 1, 3 dc in each side space and between clusters.

4. Make corners in each corner space: 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc.

5. Repeat for all four sides.

6. Join with slip stitch to starting chain‑3.

7. Fasten off; weave in all ends.

🧶 Finishing

Block the square: dampen lightly, stretch/pin to square shape, allow to dry flat—accentuates the daisy petals and neatens the square.

Use multiple squares to assemble a blanket, cushion cover, bag, or wall hanging.

✅ Pro Tips from the Tutorial

Maintain even tension so petals lay flat rather than curl.

Petals are worked in chain-1 spaces for clear separation.

Corners (chain-2 spaces) keep the square shape clear.

Blocking is essential—it flattens and sharpens the square edges.
